Harley is a beautiful Malamute x Husky with a loving personality and so much affection to give. She came into her current owner’s care after the passing of their mum, but due to changing personal circumstances, they’re now looking for the perfect forever home where Harley can continue to thrive.
Harley is an extremely affectionate girl who absolutely adores attention. Chest rubs are her favourite and she’ll happily drift off to sleep while being cuddled, only to wake up and ask for more.
Everyone who meets Harley falls in love with her gentle nature and wonderful personality. She has completed puppy school and obedience training and knows all the basics, including sit, stay, speak, drop, high five and “go to bed.”
Harley walks well on lead, although she can be enthusiastic at the start of a walk before settling down with gentle correction. Harley enjoys playing with other dogs and has lived happily around them. But she’d prefer to be an only dog. She has occasionally raised her hackles when meeting dogs on lead, she has never shown aggression or bitten another dog. She would benefit from continued positive introductions and ongoing socialisation.
She has mainly spent time with teenagers and has had very limited exposure to younger children, so a home with older, respectful children would likely suit her best. Harley is not suitable for a home with cats, as she becomes excited and wants to chase them.
At home, Harley is well behaved and enjoys having access to both the house and secure yard. She sleeps inside at night, rarely digs the occasional small hole, and has never attempted to escape by climbing or digging under fences. She only barks when she believes there is a genuine reason, such as someone approaching the property.
Like many dogs, Harley is frightened of storms and appreciates reassurance during bad weather. She also protests loudly to being washed or groomed, brushing her in short times each day suits her tolerance best.
Harley is in good health, is desexed, and is up to date with her flea, worming and heartworm prevention. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will happily join you on walks before curling up beside you for cuddles, Harley could be the perfect addition to your family.
