Ghost, a Gentle Soul Ready for His Forever Home

Ghost is a beautiful boy, sweet, affectionate, and full of love to give. With his handsome good looks, gentle nature, and a heart that just wants to belong, he’s looking for a calm, committed home where he can feel safe and flourish.

Ghost walks well on lead most of the time, though he may pull in new environments or when he’s feeling unsure. He can be particularly strong when he sees cats, so an alert and confident handler is important. He’s used to a harness and gets excited for walks a little encouragement and playfulness are all it takes to get him suited up. Once out, he loves to explore and take in all the smells.

Social with other dogs, Ghost usually greets them with friendly enthusiasm. If another dog barks at him, he may bark or jump back more from uncertainty than aggression. His interactions are generally positive, and he responds well to calm, consistent guidance. He’s a smart boy who knows several commands, including sit, stay, down, leave it, no, and crate. He waits patiently before meals or when crossing roads. He’s learning to settle in his crate using positive reinforcement especially if peanut butter is involved!

On anxious days, commands may need to be repeated, but overall, he’s responsive, eager to please, and a fast learner. While he hasn’t experienced a storm in care, Ghost can be vocal at night or when left alone due to separation anxiety. He settles best when allowed to sleep in the same room as his people, where he feels secure and relaxed. In terms of personality, Ghost is a lovely balance of calm and playful.

He enjoys lounging, napping, and being close to his humans, but also looks forward to his twice daily walks and a game of ball. He hasn’t been introduced to children in care but may do well in a home with respectful older kids or a calm, confident dog who can offer companionship and reassurance.

Ghost’s ideal home is calm and loving, with someone home most of the time and willing to share their space especially at night. A secure yard is essential, as he may try to escape if overwhelmed or highly stressed. With time, patience, and understanding, his confidence will only continue to grow.

Ghost is currently on medication to help manage anxiety since being impounded. He’s made fantastic progress but is still working through a few challenges, mostly of a night when he’s left to sleep downstairs. He’d much prefer to share your room if possible.  Despite this, his beautiful nature shines through.

He’s incredibly loving, loyal, and gentle. One of his sweetest traits is his signature head nuzzle between your legs, especially when he’s missed you. He travels calmly in the car and loves watching the world go by with the window cracked. He’s fully house trained, can hold it overnight, and will let you know when he needs to go out by tapping at the door.

He currently sleeps downstairs, but this causes him stress. When someone stays nearby, he sleeps peacefully through the night. He prefers to be close to his humans whether it’s on the floor, couch, or open crate as long as it’s in the same room.

Ghost is a sweet, intelligent boy with so much potential. He’s ready for a second chance with someone patient and kind. He truly is a people dog, and with a little compassion and consistency, he’ll become a devoted companion who will love you endlessly. The usual husky rules apply, with NO CATS OR POCKET PETS.
