Jose is beautiful, sweet senior Husky currently in foster care and is now looking for a peaceful forever retirement home, where he can simply enjoy the quieter side of life.
He has had his health check with our vet, and has a good health report.
Jose is gentle, calm and affectionate. He absolutely loves being around people and will happily snuggle up on the couch for pats and cuddles. He has the sweetest nature and his little deep awoos when he wants a treat or is feeling happy are completely adorable.
He is a very relaxed boy most of the time and is quite happy just being near you. Every now and then he will have a little burst of energy and do some zoomies, but overall he is an easygoing dog who settles beautifully in the home and just enjoys the company of his people. He would suit a home with older children who understand his calm energy and gentle personality.
He walks really well on the lead. He might pull a little at the start of the walk, but he settles very quickly. He can get a bit curious and want to stop and sniff things, but in general he is very easy to walk and enjoys his outings without being over the top.
He has met quite a few other dogs while out walking and has been very friendly with all of them. He seems very happy to say hello and would much rather have a play than cause any trouble. He has also had some lovely interactions with other huskies and seems to really enjoy being around other dogs.
His training is still fairly basic, but he is a smart boy and is already learning. He will sit when asked, especially if treats are involved, and he has already improved with things like waiting at the door instead of rushing out when it is time for a walk. He is still learning his manners and will need his new family to continue working with him, particularly with jumping and puppy mouthing.
Storms do not bother him at all and he simply ignores them. He is also a very quiet dog. The only time you really hear him is when he lets out a little awoo when he wants a treat or sometimes when he meets another dog. Otherwise he is calm and quiet around the house.
His energy level is quite moderate. He currently goes for two walks a day, usually around thirty to forty five minutes each time, and that suits him really well. He is not a high energy dog and is quite content once he has had his walks.
Like many dogs, he can be very interested in food and will definitely pay attention if you have something in your hand, so he will need a family who is happy to continue working on his manners around food.
He is housetrained, knows to go outside, and learnt how to use the dog door very quickly. He is also great in the car and happily jumps straight in. With other dogs, including smaller ones, he has been friendly and just wants to play.
Overall he is a calm, affectionate and very easygoing boy who just wants a person of his own to love. He really is a sweetheart and will make someone a very loyal companion.
