Walter is exactly what his name suggests a complete gentleman. Calm, affectionate, and loyal, he’s the kind of dog who only needs a minimum 15 minute daily walk to be happy, and the rest of the day he simply wants to be near his people. He bonds deeply and loves unconditionally. Walter is a perfect mix: Maremma side: alerts to strangers approaching the home Husky side: happily welcomes them once inside Intelligent, people focused, and responds very well to calm leadership.
Ideal Home: Walter will thrive in a home with: A decent sized backyard Two adults or a family who can share the attention and structure he needs People who enjoy a chilled, low energy companion with bursts of playful enthusiasm He’s a big boy with a big heart, and having space plus confident humans keeps him at his best.
Personality & Temperament: A True Gentleman Walter is well mannered when he has structure and someone who sets clear boundaries. He’s smart, sensitive, and very responsive to confident handling.
Low-Energy Companion: Although he’s part Husky, he’s surprisingly mellow. A short daily walk keeps him content, plus some company and gentle engagement. Affectionate & Loyal He loves being with his people inside, outside, wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be.
Behaviours to Know: Walter is a great dog with a few quirks that are easy to manage with routine and consistency: Kitchen Bench Raider: He’s happy to help himself if they’re left in reach. He’ll proudly take his snacks to the backyard for a picnic. This comes from lack of structure, not stubbornness. Barking on Walks: Earlier this year he developed a habit of barking at dogs on lead. A trainer worked with the owner, and Walter now only reacts if the other dog barks first, and stops immediately with a gentle lead cue. Housemate Selective: He previously trialled living with a small dog friendly outside the home but reactive inside. Because of this, he is best as the only dog, unless the adopter is very experienced and confident with food/resource guarding. Digging: He’ll dig if he’s bored and locked outside for long periods. If he’s allowed inside and given company, he doesn’t dig at all.
Social Skills With Dogs: At dog parks he is wonderful friendly, social, playful. Big dogs are his favourite playmates Small dogs can find him overwhelming On lead, he may bark if barked at first
With Cats He currently lives with two and lets them do their thing. They occasionally play around him and he simply accepts them. This may be different with cats he doesn’t know, a meet would be best to gage his reaction.
Children Fantastic. Gentle and patient with kids from age 5+.

Why He’s Being Rehomed Walter’s owner is a single mother with a demanding job, limited space, and increasing financial pressure.
